THURSDAY MESSAGE, 3rd September 2009 (SERIES 173)

Upanishads are the sources of the Indian philosophical knowledge. They also give the  rules and customs connected with  the sanyasa and the life style of philosophers. Some of the simple Upanishads also give the  customs and rituals connected with the  worship, prayer, chanting mantras, merits of spiritual practices etc.  The  dasopanishads (most important ten Upanishad) or ashtaadasopanishads  (important 18 Upanishads)  are  the essence of  Indian spirituality when explained in the highest level. Eesaavasya Upanishad is the first and the most important one which gives the explanation of many aspects of the life in 18 lines/ mantras. This is the only  Upanishad which comes as the part of the Veda, as the 40th chapter of sukla yajurveda.

Wealth That Benefits No One

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Kural 1001

He who has amassed great wealth but does not enjoy it
is reckoned as dead, like his unused heap.

Kural 1002

Believing wealth is everything, yet giving away nothing,
the miser himself will be possessed by a miserable birth.

Kural 1003

The mere sight of men who lust after wealth,
caring nothing for renown, is a burden to the Earth.

Kural 1004

What could a man, unloved by even a single soul,
imagine he might leave to posterity?

Kural 1005

Amid millions heaped high, a man remains poor
if he neither gives away his wealth nor enjoys it himself.

Kural 1006

Vast wealth can be a wretched curse to one who
neither gladdens himself in its worth nor gives to the worthy.

Kural 1007

The wealth of a greedy man who gives nothing to the needy
is like the beauty of a maiden growing old unwed.

Kural 1008

The wealth of a man whom no heart loves
is like fruits on a poisonous tree in the heart of a village.

Kural 1009

He who casts out love and dharma and chooses self-denial
so wealth can pile high will see it seized by strangers.

Kural 1010

The short-lived poverty of a benevolent rich man
is like the temporary dryness of a bountiful rain cloud

THURSDAY MESSAGE, 23RD JULY   2009 (SERIES 167)

Yoga choodaamani Upanishad continued: the description goes through the group of nadies,   and their names and role  they play in yogic practices,   the passage of pancha praana (praana, apaana, vyaana, udaana, samaana and aathama), the continuous  thapas /practice the exciting /activating /utthejanam of  kundalini  and explained. Further the importance of khechari mudra  is explained. The importance of the  prayer by chanting pranavam  is further explained. Then the relation among omkaaram-brahma thathwam-panchabhootham-panchapraana-pancha devathaa- etc. in the last part of this Upanishad  detailed descriptions on the practice and merits of  doing praanaayaama are given systematically.

THIS WEEK ACHIEVEMENTS OF IISH :- Fantastic response  for the pitru karma held in Mazhuvanchery about 5000 people    from all religions and  from all walks of life attended the pitru karma.  A series of lectures were also held in Matha Amruthananda mayee asram, EKM, Agriculture college,  Trissur, Chinmaya mission, Trissur.Temples in Kodakaraa, oorakam, Trivandrum Ernakulam  and Trivandrum during this period

INDIAN LITERATURE :
Understanding Brahmanas  is practically impossible for a common man or for even a Sanskrit scholar because the  explanations in few lines are  given in Vedic sanskti  which needs simplified commentaries  for us to understand the message. How evr it is not  that important for a common man to understand the meaning of Brahmanas because it mainly gives the rituals of yaagas. However the contents of Sathapatha brahmana and Gopatha brahmana are  historically very very important.

ANCIENT INDIAN MANAGEMENT MESSAGES:VIDUROPADESA:-
When the fire woods are kept separately while burning, only the smoke will come. But when they are kept together during  burning   flames will come.  Like this when the relatives  stay together  the  good things  will take place and when they are separated only pain remains.  Those who ‘demonstrate’ their muscle power towards great scholars, cows, women  and their relatives  get themselves degraded everyday.

SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGICAL HERITAGE OF INDIA
The famous historian Sri. Vincent smith says that we must give a still greater measure of admiration to the forgotten craftsmen who dealt so successfully in producing the still more ponderous iron mass (than Delhi iron pillar) of the Dhar iron  monument”  the Dhar iron  pillar  is the tallest iron pillar in the world having 43 ft 8 inch height, weighing 7 tones, erected during 1000 AD

THIS WEEK MESSAGE:-
Through all the television channels  great heritage messages are now pouring as puranic stories, commentaries, animation pictures and also movies and serials. Utilize  all these opportunities for learning and spreading the messages

A LINE OF GUIDANCE:-
Utilize every minute of our  life, because the minute which has gone from us is gone for ever and   future is becoming  present and present is becoming past so fast.

PAINFUL HISTORY OF INDIA:-
Formerly  kings were projecting themselves, but they had the guidance and control of dharmic Rushies and  ministers. Now the ministers are projecting themselves as politicians and none is there to control  them.

SCIENTIFIC SUPERSTITION :-
Majority of the medicines given  in different  names for the same patients and for the same diseases  have the same component, but  given by the doctors after listening to the medical representatives

A LINE ON ACHARA :-
A prayer before  taking food can  produce saliva in your mouth. You cn simply sit or pray as you like, it has  merit of producing saliva  before  the food goes to stomach.

WHAT I HERD AND SAW :-
I found the extremely fantastic response from the students and faculty members  of Govt. Agriculture college, Trissur that, each and everyone of them   are  so much interested in learning, teaching and practicing  the heritage  knowledge not only in agricultural aspects but also in  every other branch. Many agricultural aspects  are displayed in the notice board of the government college.

A PAINFUL EXPERIENCE :-
Gurupoornima was celebrated world over  with great respect and reverence  by way of honoring   the teachers and scholars.  The students of Trivandrum Sanskrit college performed the  GURUOOJA by inviting   a Great Sanskrit scholar and denigrating, degrading and harassing him. Many students took part in this wretched activity. The great scholar commented  “ I AM HAPPY THAT  THE STUDENTS DID NOT BEAT ME AND THROW STONES ON ME”. It is  natural that we can expect only this type of activity   from the  students of the politicized GOVT. SANSKRIT COLLEGE, Trivandrum

Thursday Message – July 16 2009 (Serial Number 166) (by IISH Communication Team, published Wednesday, 15 July 2009 23:54)

THURSDAY MESSAGE, 16th  JULY  2009 (SERIES 166)

Yoga choodamani Upanishad: this is yoga based Upanishad, decribed fully well  the subject of  yogaasanam like  seershasanam, halaasanam, sarvangaasanam, vruschikaasanam, paschimotthanaasanam, bhujangaasanam, salabhaasanam, dhanuraasanam, ardhamatsyendraasnam, kaakaasanam+mayoorasanam, hasthapaadaasanam and trikonaasanam and their varieties of variations.   The description goes to control of breath, meditation, transedental medittion, the shadngas of yoga (yama, niyama, aasana, praanaayaama, prathyaahaara and  dhaarana.  Then  the chakras are described moolaadhara chakra, swaadhishtana chakra, manipooraka chakra, anaahatha chakra, visuddhi chakra, aajnaa chakra and sahasraara chakra (contd)

THIS WEEK ACHIEVEMENTS OF IISH : A series of lectures were  delivered  in Houston and  Los Angeles.  Particularly connected with  Hindu dharma for the Kerala Hindus of North America, Held in double tree hotel at Ontario.

NEXT WEEK PROGRAMS OF IISH: Series of lecvtures are organized in Alapuzha and Ernakulam on 18th July, 19th lectures in Trissur district

INDIAN LITERATURE: Generally  Brahmanas are the set of literature which explains mainly the  rules and practices of performing yaagas. For each Veda, more than one Brahmanas are there  and the maxmum number of Brahmanas are for  Saama Veda. The clear well written Brahmanas are  Sathapatha brahmana of Yajurveda and Gopatha brahmana of Atharva veda

ANCIENT INDIAN MANAGEMENT MESSAGES:VIDUROPADESA  : For those keep an attitude of hatred and enmity,  they will have to keep always  fear complex from their  relatives  and friends. The misunderstanding and  rumor spreading will become  common towards them and from them.   This is very natural that negatives will always  accompany with such people. Like a plant can withstand many environmental and climatic negatives if  properly taken care of  during the period of its growth, that  good people can withstand many negatives  if properly trained  when they progress spirituality and emotionally.

SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGICAL HERITAGE OF INDIA: An iron spear prepared by hammering and welding the sheets of carburized iron was obtained from Komaranahalli produced during 1200BC.  The carburized part of iron has 0.2 to 0.24%  carbon.   And higher level of micro hardness.

THIS WEEK MESSAGE: Keep your ears open you can listen to many good information and knowledge. Learn that slowly and immediately teach / discuss with others, it will remain in your brain for a long period.

A LINE OF GUIDANCE: Doing nothing is not bad, doing something good is good. Doing something bad is bad. Doing something even for yourself is good if it will not hurt others

PAINFUL HISTORY OF INDIA : Earlier days  the foreign rulers of India divided us, now the Indian rulers are diving   us with their ignorance and  wicked  mottos  for wealth and power, knowing pretty well that these  crookedness can destroy the nation

SCIENTIFIC SUPERSTITION: Many doctors advise to take meat and fish. But the positive effects of these are  far less than the  negative effects . avoid taking the dead body of any other animal, because it is dead body. Once utilized particles for building a body is again used for building another body, like  using old bricks and cement of a building for making another building

A LINE ON ACHARA: Spend minimum money for the luxuries it can cause you less expenditure in your hospital bill also. Eat less, drink less, waste less, less ‘comforts’  more work and so on should be the guiding principles in our life.

WHAT I SAW AND HEARD  : The 5th biennial conference of   the Kerala Hindu of North America  (KHNA)  was held in  Double Tree hotel, Ontario, in Los Angeles, US which was an unbelievable experience for those who participated . Each and every lecture, women’s’  and students  programs, cultural programs , spiritual programs and  all other  programs were so superb that Indians, particularly Kerala Hindus have proved that  such  a three day conference  can be held  with utmost discipline, orderliness , devotion and without any ‘show’ of the organizers ego.  The level of discipline  noticed  was  ideal. Through out the seminar absence of Non vegetarian food and liquor was  particularly noticed, which used to be a practice in US. The spiritual and religious environment was  noticed by everyone.  IISH had  excellent contribution in imparting the knowledge of  our motherland which was well appreciated. More than 600 members (200) families attended the conference.   Sri. Sri. Ragvisankar  also attended the program with  more than 300 American followers. They  were also present  for listening him and  for the pure Kerala type dinner.  Anywhere in the world an ideal Hindu conference  can be held if the  pattern of Los Angeles  conference of KHNA  is followed. Let such conference be held world over  for learning and teaching Hindu dharma  with intense  discipline.

Dharmic constitutional rules and laws of  ancient India. (Vishnu dharma Saastra)

Protect all the citizens  alike.  Protect the  freedom to live according to ones dharma.;;;;;;;;
Protect the domestic and wild  animals and resources of the nation.  None is kept away or deprived  from the society.:::::::::::::
The king should protect himself with the strong support of army  and the the kings palace should be protected  by natural or artificial  hills/mountain, river,  tress, etc.;;;;;;;;;

Through the control of the village chiefs the king should rule his country.  For ten villages there should  be one graamadhyaksha, for ten of them there should be a  dasaadhyaksha, for ten of them thre should be a sathadhyaksha ( and through them the  whole empire should ruled by the king) ;;;;;;;;
All the problems of a village should be solved by the  gramaadhyaksha, if he could not the problems should reach to dasadhyaksha, if the solution cannot be solved there, then it should go to sataadhyaksha , if the problems  could not be solved there also it  should go to  desaadhyaksha, the chief secretary of the  nation. ;;;;;;;;;;
All the problems, whatever may be complexity of the problem; the final point of solution should arrived at with desaadhyaksha /chief secretary. ;;;;;;;;;
Most suitable persons should be selected as secretaries for   producing the coins, protecting the natural resources, maintenance of the treasury under the supervision of  capable personalities.;;;;;
King should appoint scholars having dharmic background for  the dharmic projects/works/ missions. ;;;;;;;;;
Stringent selection methods are to be adopted for selecting suitable officers for the respective posts.;;;;;;;; Bravery and patriotism  should be the basic qualification for selecting soldiers and army chiefs.
